Standard 1: Content Knowledge
The five AECT Standards that I have chosen reflect my experience and goals as an educator. I believe in a project-based learning environment for students because hands on experiences help students keep information longer and develop creative problem solving techniques. For each artifact I have included a description of the artifact including information about the course in which it was created, the manner in which the artifact is to be used, if the artifact was used in my own classroom and the effects on learning, and the skills that I learned while creating this artifact. Implementing these materials in the classroom is my goal with each artifact that I created.
Standard 1.1 Creating
The link that I have provided is my lesson on Recording Audio. This lesson is for beginning TV Production students grades 8-12. It was created on Google Slides and meant to be delivered through any Learning Management system. The student can make a copy of the presentation on any computer or web browser and follow the presentation alone or guide through it with an instructor. the presentation is also interactive, leaving areas for the instructor and student to evaluate their learning. Included in the slides are links to worksheets, videos, and information. This delivery method allows the student to keep all of their notes and assignments in one place. Students can move at their own pace and reference these slides when they need to complete an assignment.
Standard 1.2 Using
The link that I have provided a link to an online teaching practicum that was created on a lesson on copyright. I created a screencast of the google slides presentation and taught the lesson as if I was giving a lecture to the class. The technological resources used were Google, YouTube, and Screen Capture Lite. In this lesson students have a variety of ways they can participate with the lesson by following the presentation or going through with the video. YouTube also provides a closed captioning service and Google provides a translation service if the student is an English Language learner.
